Science Resources

Phet Simulations – You can model different scientific processes and principles all the while manipulating the variables to understand how changing variables changes the characteristics of a system.

My personal favorites:

  • static electricity simulation and the effects of negative charges against other negatives.
  • build an atom – build your own element from the periodic table with different protons, electrons, and neutrons.

Word Maps

Popplet – Students can create their very own word map using popplet!  Popplet allows for easy word clouds to be created and attached together for students to demonstrate an understanding of a certain concept.

Articles – Differentiated

NewsELA – Differentiate your articles by using NewsELA.  News ELA takes different articles and breaks them up for students with different reading (lexile) levels.  This way all students can participate in the conversation.  Also, it generates quizzes for students to take as based on what they read at their level.

Students can annotate too!

Galaxy Tablets

Chemistry Lab Become an organic chemistry ace by playing the app that turns real organic chemistry mechanisms into an outstandingly fun game. Play your way through actual reactions in a fun game rather than simply memorizing flash cards and reaction names. This app is the perfect study companion for an organic chemistry student and is just plain fun for anyone interested in chemistry as you play your way from one reaction to the next. Don’t worry if you get stuck, hints will appear to help you along the way. The chemistry is explained in simple terms. Stop trying to memorize organic chemistry reactions and instead learn to solve them. If in school you get stuck on an exam reaction question, just draw out the entire Lewis structures including all the hydrogens and lone pair electrons – then ‘play the game’. You’ll surprise yourself that with a little practice you can figure it out, even if you’ve never seen that reaction before. See how exciting and easy organic chemistry can be!
